Declaration of Principles
We believe in God, the Living Spirit Almighty; one indestructible, absolute and self-existent Cause. This One manifests itself in and through all creation but is not absorbed by its creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.

We believe in the incarnation of the Spirit in man, and that all men are incarnations of the One Spirit.

We believe in the eternality, the immortality and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding.

We believe that the Kingdom of Heaven is within man, and that we experience this Kingdom to the degree that we become conscious of it.

We believe the ultimate goal of life to be a complete emancipation from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.

We believe in the unity of all life, and that the highest God and the innermost God is one God.

We believe that God is personal to all who feel this Indwelling Presence.

We believe in the direct revelation of Truth through the intuitive and spiritual nature of man, and that any man may become a revealer of Truth who lives in close contact with the Indwelling God.

We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.

We believe in the healing of the sick through the power of this Mind.

We believe in the control of conditions through the power of this Mind.

We believe in the eternal Goodness, the eternal Loving-kindness and the eternal Givingness of Life to all.

We believe in our own soul, our own spirit and our own destiny; for we understand that the life of man is God.

What is the Science of Mind?

Science of Mind is a spiritual teaching created by Dr. Ernest Holmes in 1927. It is part of New Thought, a metaphysical movement that was started in America in the 1800s by Phineas Parkhurst Quimby and fathered by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Science of Mind is a down to earth, easily applied, and practical way of thinking about the nature of the universe and your relationship to it. As you come to understand yourself as an individual connected to a larger, loving spiritual presence, you discover the freedom to express the unlimited potential within you.

Science of Mind is a practical spiritual system that uses specific principles consistent with the discoveries of the great scientists of the world. Through an increased awareness of spiritual principles and the practice of sacred thought and meditation, you begin to expand your consciousness.

Science of Mind is a metaphysical expression of universal truths. It is free of dogma and superstition, and is straightforward in its approach to life, using reason, logic and an appreciation of the mystical.

Science of Mind teaches that there is One Infinite Spirit of which you are a unique and integral part. All that exists is Divine in nature and unfolds in a process of evolution throughout the Universe.

Your thoughts and beliefs produce happiness to the degree that they are in harmony with this Divine Truth. You have absolute free will and you direct your experience by means of your thoughts and beliefs. Like every individual, you must find your own personal path to the full realization of this Divine connection.

Our motto; Change your thinking, change your life.

Who is Dr. Ernest Holmes?

Dr. Ernest Holmes founded the Religious Science movement, wrote the Science of Mind, and originated the Science of Mind Magazine in 1927.

He was born on a small farm in Main on January 21, 1887. He asked so many questions as a child that the became know as “the eternal question mark.”

At the early age of 17 he was already asking himself; What is God? Who am I? Why am I here? He discovered Ralph Waldo Emerson and Judge Thomas Troward who ignited a flame within him.

He studied literature, art, science, philosophy, and religion and found the commonality from which he created the Science of Mind Teaching. His commitment to know, experience and live the Truth, was his life.

He believed; that the human heart longs as a hungry man longs for bread, for spiritual food. It longs for that which will make it whole, and that’s what our teaching can do-reveal the Self to the self.

In his quest for Truth, Dr. Holmes always remained open at the top.
